Skilled Newcomer In Construction Program

Information Session

When: Thursday, June 26th, 2025 at 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM

Where: Charlottetown Fire Hall, Station #2 at 152 St. Peters Rd (Back Door)

Unpaid Classroom/Shop Hours:

• June 30th to August 22nd, 2025 
• 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a 30 minute lunch break (Arrive for 7:45 AM daily) 

Paid Work Experience: 12+ Weeks

August 25th to November 14th, 2025 - paid by your employer with the expectation they will provide full time continued employment. This session will explain how the program works. 

After the session, please book an interview and bring a resume to the interview. 12 candidates will be selected for the program.

Eligibility Requirements - Does this sound like you?

• Skilled newcomers with a professional background in construction who are seeking to earn Canadian credentials in their field of training.
• Newcomers with experience in construction trades who are seeking to successfully transition into a career in the island construction industry.
• Living in Canada for less than 10 years & a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a protected person or person with a valid work permit.
• A Canadian language benchmark placement test of 6 or higher.
